Uwe Marquardt
Responsible for international cooperation among higher education institutions and the internationalisation strategy of GPU
Professional Career
Uwe Marquardt studied law at the University of Bremen (with a focus on European and UN sales law) and up to the completion of his second state law examination he worked as a junior lawyer at the Higher Regional Court of Oldenburg. Until 2001 he practised as attorney at law.
From 2001 till 2020 he served in various positions as senior officer within the police force of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), amongst others from 2006 till 2007 as Chief of Staff to the Police Commissioner of the United Nations Interim Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK). From 2009 till 2012 he worked for the Inspector General of the NRW police force and head of the state-federal working group on international police missions (AG IPM) in the NRW Ministry of the Interior.
Mr. Marquardt successfully completed a Master’s course in “Criminal Justice, Governance and Police Science” at the Ruhr University of Bochum and was a lecturer for International Peacekeeping there until 2018.
As Lieutenant Colonel (of the Reserve) he is also an adviser at the General Staff College of the German Armed Forces.
Since 2010 he is a member of the Crisis Intervention Team of the Federal Ministry of the Interior to counsel and support German police officers after grave incidents in international police missions.
