About us

The German Police University (DHPol) is the central German police university providing police education and development being designed for the senior police service in Germany. It is located in the Southern part of Münster, in the suburb of Hiltrup, and was established in 2006.

DHPol has emerged from the Polizei-Führungsakademie the former institution of which was the Polizeiinstitut Hiltrup. This institution was set up at the very same place during the 40’s of last century.

Among the main functions of DHPol is to provide a link between science and practical policing, thus setting up a forum for the discussion of relevant police matters being faced in the Federal Republic of Germany.
